How Extraordinary Are You?

I was coming into my apartment building and the Blood Bank posted something on the bulletin board. Obviously, it was about donating blood, but the tag line was, "Do something Extraordinary." It really caught my attention and I began to think about how many of us do something extraordinary or at the very least something for someone else?

In this fast pace, ditigal, instant drive through kind of world it is SO easy to forget about those who are less fortunate and those who just need a friend. We get caught up in our own day to day life and neglect to be caring about others. It's kind of sad if you really think about it. As a society and as people we should really keep an open mind and heart for those who are hurting and not just those people we know or are related to.

It's about time that we stop acting like spoiled little selfish children and get out there and do something. Make life worth living. Better yet, make someone's day. However, it is easy to say, but when our own lives are messed up and self centered how can we possibly think about anyone else?

I read this quote on thinkexist.com and it says, “Most people can do extraordinary things if they have the confidence or take the risks. Yet most people don't. They sit in front of the telly and treat life as if it goes on forever. ~ Philip Andrew Adams

Is that like a smack in the face or what? It's so true though. We waste so much time on the computer, listening to our ipod, playing angry birds or anything that requires no interaction with others that we ignore the realities around us.

So, here is your homework; First, If you think your life is messed up, care about someone else. You will come to an understanding that yeah, your life isn't perfect and things might not be going my way, but I guarantee you that someone has it worse than you do. Secondly, If you think that you don't have what it takes to be "extraordinary" STOP. You already are extraordinary. You have all that it takes to be the fantastic, wonderful EXTRAORDINARY person you are. It isn't enough for me to say it, you have to believe it for yourself. If you don't believe it for yourself, I truly hope you find it. Because you deserve the best life that you were created for.
So get out there and live life, and truly care for others.
